Controlled exciton–plasmon coupling in a mixture of ultrathin periodically aligned single-wall carbon nanotube arrays

چکیده

We study theoretically the in-plane electromagnetic response and exciton–plasmon interactions for an experimentally feasible carbon nanotube (CN) film system composed of parallel aligned periodic semiconducting CN arrays embedded in ultrathin finite-thickness dielectric. For homogeneous single-CN films, intertube coupling thermal broadening bring exciton interband plasmon resonances closer together. They can even overlap due to inhomogeneous films array mixtures with a slight diameter distribution. In such systems, real part function is negative broad range energies (negative refraction band), behaves as hyperbolic metamaterial. also show that properly fabricated two-component film, by varying relative weights two constituent components, one tune optical absorption profile make transmit or absorb light neighborhood resonance on-demand.

Transport of a Liquid Water-Methanol Mixture in a Single Wall Carbon Nanotube

In this work, a molecular dynamics simulation of the transport of water - methanol mixture through the single wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) is reported. Methanol and water are selected as fluid molecules since water represents a strongly polar molecule while methanol is as an intermediate between polar and strongly polar molecules. Some physical properties of the methanol-water mixture such as r...

Optical characterization of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotube arrays

Here we discuss spectroscopic investigation and characterization of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotube (VA-SWNT) arrays, which were synthesized using the alcohol catalytic CVD method [1]. Growth of the VA-SWNTs was monitored using an in situ absorbance measurement [2], which provides information about the growth process. Primary methods employed were Resonance Raman and UV-Vis-NIR...

Structural anisotropy of magnetically aligned single wall carbon nanotube films

Thick films of aligned single wall carbon nanotubes and ropes have been produced by filtration/ deposition from suspension in strong magnetic fields. We measured mosaic distributions of rope orientations in the film plane, for samples of different thicknesses. For an ;1 mm film the full width at half maximum ~FWHM! derived from electron diffraction is 25° – 28°. The FWHM of a thicker film (;7 m...

Large area-aligned arrays from direct deposition of single-wall carbon nanotube inks.

Sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS), Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP, MW 10 kDa), and NaCl were obtained from Sigma Aldrich. Microcalorimetry experiments were performed using a MicorCal ITC-VP at the University of Albany Proteomics Facility in Rensselaer, NY. SDBS was added to de-ionized distilled water, and placed into the injection syringe of the microcalorimeter, and added to the sample cell c...
